About the Ila Dress & love at first sight

De laatste tijd blijf ik testen. Niet dat ik klaag ;-). Zelfs internationale patroontjes.
I keep testing these days. Not that I'm complaining ;-). Even international tests. It takes a bit more to follow than testing in a dutch/belgian testergroup, but is is fun to work on a goal together with sewists from all over the world.

Well, meet Ila! The newest baby in patternland. She's born at Coffee + Thread Patterns, the stylish patternfamily from Olga. When I saw a photo of this patterngirl in the testercall she immediately had my attention, because she was a kind of different from other dresses I have seen lately. Plus, the lady had the possibility of using piping. Need to say more? I applied, and this is the result!

Something went wrong with the settings of the camera, the light was not very good and the fabric is very hard to catch on a picture, so the pictures are blurry. Nevertheless, I think they give a good impression from the model, fit and possibilities of the dress. I love the possibilities for piping (really?), colorblocking and the shaped yoke, but a plain dress can be beautiful as well.

What my little girl likes the most - and I can feel her - are the little pocket ons the front of the dress. During our walk trough the park, she found some acorns and they immediately found their way to one of the pockets. The pockets don't show when not in use, but when used I like too see the contrasting fabric. It's all about details, don't you think? On this pic you can see the cherished fabric I used for the dress on it's best. It's a woven fabric, but a little bit thicker than a regular cotton, which I think is perfect for this dress.

It's a pity the pictures didn't work out very well, because I like the complete look on my little one a lot. Red and blue are colors which really fit her, and this came so nicely together with a coat from last year, rainboots I bought recently and a cardigan, what I got as a present. I have to try again ;-).

The Ila Dress is for sale for $7 till Monday 19th. The regular price afterwards will be $ 9. It is not very difficult to sew and comes also with long sleeves.
So, what are you waiting for seems my girl to wonder :-)?

  2. Zo mooi! Plaatje klopt helemaal!
