Twee keer moest ik het mailtje doorlezen, voordat ik doorhad dat Olga mij - ja mij - uitnodigde om deel te nemen aan de Coffee+Thread Pattern Tour. Ik denk dat je je wel kunt voorstellen dat ik me erg vereerd voelde en voel, en onmiddelijk terugmailde dat ik daar niet over hoefde te twijfelen!
I had to read it twice, before I finally understood that Olga invited me - like me, myself and I - to take part at the Coffee+Thread Patterns Tour. I think you can imagine I felt (and feel) very honoured, and immediately replied positively.
I can't remember how I came across Olga's patterns, but I know that the testing of the Eleena Dress was the very beginning. And I can hardly believe it, but I just found out I never blogged about that dress, I only posted a sneakpeak on Instagram. For sure, I am going to post about that soon, because that is completely worth it!
Ik weet niet meer precies wanneer ik Olga's patronen ontdekte, maar ik weet dat het testen van de Eleena Dress de eerste kenninsmaking was. The second pattern I tested was the Ila Dress. And hey, I did blog that! Thankfully my daughter still fits it, because every time she wears it she gets a lot of compliments. And every time I get her dressed with the Ila Dress, she very proudly asks me: mummy-made? Heartmelting...♥
Het tweede patroontje dat ik mocht testen was de Ila Dress. En oef, die blogde ik wel. Mijn dochter past er gelukkig nog steeds in, want elke keer als zij het jurkje draagt krijgt ze een hoop complimenten. En elke keer als ik haar aankleed, vraagt ze me trots: mama gemaakt? Smelt...♥
Together with the invitation for the tour, Olga told us, she was working on a new pattern: the Polina Dress. The sneakpeak showed ruffles - and thats were 2017 is all about, right ;-)? A testerscall came along, and happy me was able to test. Unfortunately, I made a wrong fabric choice and the dress didn't work out. But enter the tour, a perfect excuse to make another one :-). During testing two little plans came across my mind. Adding piping makes everything better, would that also be for the ruffles? And a top instead of a dress, how would that be? I melted those plans together and the show you the outcome today!
Samen met de uitnodiging voor de tour deelde Olga dat ze met een nieuw patroontje bezig was: de Polina Dress. De sneakpeak liet ruffles zien, en dat is waar het in 2017 over gaat, toch ;-)? Een vraag om testers kwam langs en ik mocht weer testen. Helaas maakte ik de verkeerde stofkeuze en draaide de jurk op niets uit. Maar de tour bracht uitkomst, een perfect excuus om er nog één te maken. Gedurende het testen van de Polina Dress kwamen er twee ideetjes in mijn gedachten. Paspel toevoegen maakt alles beter, zou dat ook werken voor de ruffles? En een top in plaats van een jurk, hoe zou dat zijn? Ik smolt de plannetjes samen en toon je het resultaat vandaag!
For my small 3y old girl, I made size 2 according the to the sizechart, and that fits perfect. The bodice has no alterations. For the skirt I shortened the patternpiece of the skirt till it was 20 cm high. I combined it with jeans - but after all the cute examples during the tour already - I think the wild and free lounge pants would have been a great addition too!
Voor mijn kleine 3-jarige maakte ik maat 2 volgens de maattabel, en dat past perfect. Het lijfje nam ik zonder wijzigingen over, de rok korte ik in tot 20 cm. Ik combineerde het met jeans - maar na al die mooie exemplaren tijdens de blogtour - denk ik dat de wild and free lounge pants - ook een hele mooie aanvulling zouden zijn!
Let's add some piping! I was a bit concerned if piping would work for the ruffles. If it would not be too stiff or sturdy. But I love the way it worked out. Probably because of the fabric. I bought that very cheap at the local market because I liked the print, but it is a fluid fabric with a lof of drape. Also a very hard fabric to work with, as an example I never ever I seemed to be able to cut the fabric straight. On the other hand, the fabric is very forgiving for imperfections as well, so I shouldn't complain ;-).
Laten we paspel toevoegen! Ik was een beetje bezorg of paspel zou werken oor de ruffles. Zou het niet te stijf of robuust worden? Maar ik ben helemaal blij met het het geworden is. Misschien wel vanwege de stof. Ik kocht deze goedkoop op de lokale markt omdat ik het printje zo leuk ond, maar het is een erg glibberige, doorvallende stof. Erg lastig om mee te werken. Ik kreeg bijvoorbeeld nooit de stof helemaal rechtgeknipt. Aan de ander kant, de stof is ook erg vergevend tegenover onvolkomenheden, dus ik mag niet klagen ;-). En als dat de stof is waardoor het geheel werkte, al helemaal niet!
While working on it, I decided to add piping to the hem as well. Same doubts about drape, but again very glad I decided to give it a go. It flows the way I hoped for in a flouncy way, moving with each movement of the kid. Mission accomplished!
Toen ik ermee bezig was, besloot ik ook paspel aan de zoom toe te voegen. Dezelfde twijfels over hoe het zou vallen, maar ook weer erg blij met hoe het uitviel. Het valt op de manier waarop ik hoopte, zwierig en stijlvol, en meebewegend met elke beweging die dochterlief maakt. Missie geslaagd!
The fotoshoot was another pair of sleeves (o right, they where missing, lol). Toddlerstage in all its glory. Enjoy ;-)
